Clearly everything that we are doing is to prevent that from happening and to save more lives."The lag between infections and hospitalisations reflects the fact a person is rarely sick enough to require hospitalisation when they are first diagnosed with COVID-19.Patients' conditions deteriorate over time, so we do not know what the full impact of nine-straight days of new cases reaching triple digits will have on hospitalisation numbers. Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews yesterday said members of the Australian Defence Force would start to join paramedic crews on the road.Mr Andrews said they could "support the inevitable number of paramedics who will need to be quarantined" if they were exposed to the virus.
